Fire Protection Devices was born from a safety need. The inventor of
this product, Ed Hevy, is an electrician responsible for maintaining
commercial properties—one of which is a shopping mall. He often had to
replace fire pull stations that had been knocked off the wall by
delivery personnel, mall workers moving product and tradesmen working
on stores. This became a regular part of his scope. The cost to repair
these pull stations was clear and the danger to the public was obvious.
Ed thought of making a device that would protect the pull stations.

After working with an engineering team to
define the impact as well as design the device, the Pull Station
Protector was an official design. Materials experts were then called in
to provide specific data on impact thresholds and desired
specifications.
Once made, the Pull Station Protector was
sent to an outside materials lab where it was impacted at various
speeds and angles. As suspected, the Pull Station Protector survived
and passed these rigorous tests.
